The Technology-Based Business Incubation Program (PIEBT) of the UFPA’s Technology Innovation Agency (Universitec), in partnership with the Guamá Science and Technology Foundation, was one of the winners of the 2nd edition of the Incubation and Acceleration of Impact Challenge, which took place last week in São Paulo. The program is nationally recognized and is organized by the Institute of Corporate Citizenship (ICE), Anprotec and Sebrae. The incubator will receive the R$25,000 prize and a voucher in services from Sebrae to implement the actions planned to support projects with social and environmental themes.

“Being one of the winners enables technical, service and financial support for the insertion of high-impact businesses in the PIEBT and STP strategy, expanding our area of operation. In addition, the fact that the evaluation board of the presented projects/action plans is made up of people with expertise in the subject, leads us to believe that the project we presented to stimulate and support businesses with social and/or environmental impact was validated”, Comments the coordinator of the PIEBT, Iara Neves.

The next step is to start executing the plan that was drawn up based on the training that took place from December/16 to June/17 and presented to the board. The organization foresees results still at the end of 2017. The projects to be supported will still be chosen.

“It is a strategic role for the STP and Universitec to encourage impact business ventures. Our state has enormous potential, but it is not being worked on. There is a deficiency, mainly in the region of the islands. We are losing the potential that we should be taking advantage of so that people and the community can live in this type of business”, said the president of the Science and Technology Park, Antônio Abelém.

The ICE – The Institute of Corporate Citizenship is an organization that develops an articulation of leaders and acts in the promotion of innovations that can generate positive impact in low income populations. The institution’s vision is to mobilize more resources with entrepreneurs and investors, for initiatives with measurable positive social impact and financial sustainability.
